Psychic & Intuitive Development
With all development the most important thing to pay close attention to is your own senses and what feels right for you. It doesn’t matter one iota if someone has been doing this for years and is seemingly more experienced and knows more than you think you do, if it doesn’t feel right inside you then it isn’t right for you. There may however come a time when something that didn’t feel right initially, does feel right further along the line. It is most important to learn to listen to ourselves, psychic development teaches us to listen to ourselves which can also help with our spiritual development. It works both ways, as psychic development can also be a bi-product of spiritual development which develops naturally upon our path.
Contemplating why you wish to develop psychically, if you have had no prior experience can be a very useful place to start. Asking yourself if you want power over others for instance, can help to identify underlying motivations which can become potential blockages along the path.
Ask others about their psychic development and psychic experiences to help you to gain more understanding of how it might work for you. Take what you need and dismiss the rest. Some of it may be meaningful for you, some may not. Take what you need and apply it to see if it works for you too. Put your new beliefs into action as this helps to ground them into experience. If they don’t work for you, find another way; experiment with it. There are many paths up to the top of the same mountain; we are all different and due to differing perceptions we ’see’ things differently. What is ’pink’ to one person may be ‘magenta’ to another. Our mental processes and experiences will all affect what we perceive and how we perceive and/or ‘receive’ things. It’s not to say that another is wrong if they perceive things in a different way to us, they will likely be right for the experiences that they encounter, or want to encounter for their soul growth and those differences are all part of life’s rich tapestry.
A lot of psychic development focuses attention on opening up the third eye, but the other chakras are also linked to psychic development too. We are tuning into ourselves, we are the receiver, we are the sensors; if we do not honour this to begin with we may not build a firm foundation for ourselves from which to grow, expand and develop further. Please see ‘The Benefits of Development’ blog.
If we wish to read for others in a balanced, rounded manner I believe that it serves us well to focus on the development of all of the chakras as they all play a part in the reception of balanced psychic information. Starting with the root chakra where we build a firm solid foundation for ourselves, freeing ourselves from our fears, we gain a necessary grounded stable base from which to open up securely from. Pay attention to grounding too as this links with the base chakra. During meditation, by focusing your eyes upwards as if looking up to your eye brows, this is said to stimulate and activate the pineal gland, which is linked to the third eye chakra, our psychic sight.
When we have irrational fear within such as insecurity we can tense and close up to protect ourselves, making it difficult to remain open and see with clarity. Purification of our mental processes, the way that we think and what we think of ourselves and others, looking at our issues and our emotional baggage, and paying attention to physical needs are all areas which serves us to address along the path of psychic and spiritual development.
The overall premise for psychic development is to ‘do no harm’. As we become more in tune with our psychic and physical senses and our own sensitivity increases, we may come to realise that things that we did not originally perceive to be harmful to another – such as thinking hurtful thoughts and judging others - may in fact be felt by them on some level. With psychic development comes a responsibility which many may agree should also carry a health warning! Once we open up, we cannot go back, we can’t unlearn what we know (though perhaps we can forget and deny). It can be extremely hard work, but also very rewarding as it enriches our life. Clearing our issues helps us and enables us to see more clearly and function as a purer channel for receiving information. It also helps us to get to know ourselves so that with the subtle information incoming it can enable us to distinguish what is inner information (our own stuff) and incoming information (about someone else).
Psychic senses are said to originate from the right side of the brain, the creative side, which operates the left side of the body, which also equates with the feminine. The intuition develops through a mode of ‘being’, rather than doing, which we access through stillness and relaxation. The imagination is one step away from intuition. Meditation is the first base for psychic development; helping to quiet the mind in order to hear our inner voice or notice our inner sight more clearly. If your imagination is blocked, try creative activities to help open you up, but also be sure to work on other areas too, development is a wholistic process if it is to remain in balance.
To dispense with the logical, rational side of the brain, may be to become unbalanced. If you find that you are becoming unbalanced it may help you to purposefully focus on logic as the integration of psychic and spiritual information with logic often leads to common sense (the cosmic joke!)
